Our History

Kyle “Cayetano” Bennett was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, Texas. As a farmer, he experienced first-hand the challenges that the Texas working-class face in buying and owning their own home. Known as “Cayetano” to his friends, Kyle saw a business opportunity over 30 years ago and began developing land into residential lots and selling them on terms to families that would not qualify for conventional bank loans.

Kyle understood that most things worth having require both hard work and calculated risk.

After Kyle passed away in 2009, his son Kyndel began running the company, starting new projects in the Rio Grande Valley. At that time, Kyndel named the company Bennett Interests.

From 2010-2015, Kyndel partnered with Matthew Long and John Mays, and the three set out with a new statewide vision, eventually building communities in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Eagle Pass, and Corpus Christi.  In 2016, they co-founded the current company called Cayetano Development, named in Kyle’s honor, and they are now in most major Texas markets.

Giving Back:

We believe it is a responsibility of companies to support the communities in which they operate. Philanthropy is a core value of Cayetano, and we give a percentage of our company earnings to causes that are important to us and our communities. Typical recipients of charitable donations are local schools, children’s sports teams, and non-profit organizations. Some of our recent recipients have been Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas, Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM), The Ann Richards School for Girls, Little Helping Hands, The Jeremiah Program, The Colorado River Alliance, and The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Scholars Program.
